He's been in and out of our lives at Powerhouse, and now he's back part-time, so we jumped at the opportunity to caricature this gentle giant. He is a FAVORITE of mine, and I only had about 10 minutes to spare and his style was simplest. :) This is Charles, our audio guy, who refuses to wear headphones. I had to do a quick lunch today, so I ran to Whataburger. I didn't capture the situation at all, but my fingers were itching to draw something. These 2 burly guys came in, looking like they had come off a construction site. One is about to sit down at the larger table on the corner, but his buddy stops him and is all Duuuude, Etiquette, man. I was really surprised, but soon amusement took over, because the only tables left were those tiny individual tables in the corner. These guys looked like giants. And sitting NEXT to each other was classic.

This week's Luck of the Draw is to come up with something outrageous you did as a kid. I had a couple, but settled on this one.

I wasn't much of a rebel child, but I did do silly things. I remember this VIVIDLY. I changed names, but our family used to hang out with another family who had kids that were my older sister's age. They were verbally awful to me and I hated going over there. I didn't force myself to throw up. We had pizza. I walked outside and saw a squished caterpillar, something that would have never bothered me. But for some reason, once I got in the car it HIT me. I actually threw up 7 times before I made it to the house. So Dad had to stay home with me. :) This isn't even the only time I got sick at the thought of going over there. Oh stress, you still do this to me in one form or another...

Posting some truly scribbly scribbles I've done in the last few days. Showcasing my GEEK cred. The first is inspired by the Harley & Ivy comics back in 2004. Hilarious, slashy goodness. And such great drawings! I can see a series of these things EASY.

And Ripley I did not 5 minutes ago upon my return from seeing Aliens on the big screen. First time for that, and probably the first time I've seen the thing in its entirety. Awesomesauce. Just really wanted to draw lanky Ripley!

My caricature of what was supposed to be just Cindy (on the bass). She loves all things cute and kitty, and since she played the upright bass I thought to do an Aristocats spoof. Well, once I drew her, I felt I should put the three big bosses as the other cats. Then I had to spoof FURTHER by referencing the Disney Firehouse Five band. :) So you get this mess.

Getting around to posting my caricature for last week! Um, can't really explain this caricature well enough to those who weren't there. Basically, my boss does the BEST rendition of "Mississippi Queen" on rock band. And he has a sort of phobia of zombies..and I just wanted to draw zombies. So, uh, TA DA.

I actually wasn't going to finish this first caricature, but I showed the rough to my coworkers and it was demanded that I finish, haha.

I was lucky enough to have a decent amount of involvement in this piece. What a fun one to work on! I designed most of the characters after Powerhouse's very own. Recognize me drinkin' the coffee? I'm a little angry I left myself hardly any time to do a proper one. I really wanted to do a full body drawing showing off Jessie's crazy calves. Mayhaps I'll have time for another tomorrow.

Oh man. Reviving my comics inspired me to go back and look at the originals I did back in college for the newspaper. Why on EARTH did I write out the text and not use fonts? My terrible handwriting! This one I've had in my head for a bit. I'm so glad we decided to opt for treatment and surgery for our little guy. He's really pulling through, and in the end the numbers don't matter. It's all worth it.
